Professional Diving Services is in our forty-fifth year of operation, supplying occupational diving services throughout Australia and overseas.

With offices in Melbourne and Portland, Professional Diving Services has ongoing contracted works and dive teams operating across these locations and in Sydney and Brisbane.

Expertise, Experience and Qualifications

Our management, supervisors and diving staff are well-experienced across all occupational diving sectors and on a wide variety of structures in marine, freshwater and contaminated diving environments.

Our professional divers are qualified in accordance with AS/NZS2815 and operate to the Professional Diving Services Diving Operations Manual, which is written in accordance with AS/NZS2299.1:2015 and compliant with all WHS Legislation across Australia and used for all diving activities.

Cate Venturoni

OFFICE MANAGER

Cate joined PDS in 1997 with her husband Malcolm in a part-time capacity, and she moved to full-time in 2009 as her role and the business expanded.

As Office Manager, Cate’s role includes running the organisation’s day-to-day operations, financial management, and maintaining compliance with health and safety requirements.

Trained as a nurse, working as an Occupational Health Nurse for 8 years, then as a Hyperbaric nurse and Researcher, and having a Graduate certificate in Hyperbaric Nursing, Cate brings specialised knowledge to her role. She has also been qualified as an ADAS Part 1 diver since 1998 and has been involved with the Maritime Archaeology field for many years.

Chris Op't Hoog

PROJECT ENGINEER

Chris is a Materials Engineer who specialises in managing and providing engineering support to diving operations. Commencing his career in 2007, he has overseen critical infrastructure projects such as the Bolte Bridge, Citylink’s tunnel and elevated road network and in wharves in every Port of Melbourne’s wharf precinct from Station Pier to Central Pier as well as in numerous regional assets.

Chris manages multiple diving projects daily, develops quality and safety documentation, and conducts site surveillance for surveys, construction, demolition, and general underwater projects. Chris has extensive asset management and condition assessment experience, having undertaken repair, survey or non-destructive testing on hundreds of timber, steel and reinforced concrete structures varying from wharves, piers, tanks, bridges, tunnels, roads and sewer assets. Chris is also a commercial diver.

Felix Venturoni

Operations Manager

Felix is the operations manager for Professional Diving Services and has over 10 years of experience in the company and the industry. Managing and overseeing all the diving & marine operations for PDS across the country and overseas. Felix is an Occupational Diving Supervisor, Diver, Occupational Diver Trainer and Hyperbaric Chamber Operator and has supervised and managed projects of all sizes and across every sector of the occupational diving industry.

Felix is a ROV operator/technician and an equipment technician for the Kirby Morgan, Interspiro & OTS equipment. Felix plays a key role in the preparation of all projects, from project inception to conducting and completing the project with reporting.

Frank Zeigler

DIRECTOR

Frank has been a Director of the Professional Divers Group since it was established. Frank is a Commercial Diving Supervisor and has over 40 year’s experience including over 6,000 hours of commercially logged dive time throughout Australia and around the world.

Frank has a Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety with his thesis on safety in the onshore commercial diving industry in Australia. He also has a Graduate Diploma in disaster and risk management. Frank has written and presented courses on behalf of PDS for the Victorian and South Australian Work Cover Authorities, training their inspectorate in all matters pertaining to commercial diving.

Frank plays a key role in the preparation of OH&S documentation and safe work method statements for the company; he conducts internal audits on jobsites and provides OH&S and technical advice as required.

Malcolm Venturoni

DIRECTOR

Malcolm is the Managing Director of the Professional Divers Group. He has managed the diving, marine, safety and training operations for Professional Diving Services for over twenty-five years. Malcolm is an Occupational Diving Supervisor and Diver and has supervised and managed thousands of projects of all sizes and across every sector of the occupational diving industry.

Malcolm’s work has seen him play a key role in many of the major marine projects which have taken place throughout Victoria’s Ports as well as other marine facilities and inland waterways throughout Australia.

Malcolm is an ADAS Training and Assessment manager and oversees the operation and training of commercial divers and hyperbaric operators with the Professional Divers Training Academy and is regularly engaged by government departments, regulators and industry to provide expert advice, compliance auditing, inspection and verification of competency within the occupational diving industry.
